From Perth to the World Stage — DWP Congress Macao 2026
Vicky RahmicWhat It Means for Couples Planning a Luxury Wedding in Perth, Australia and Beyond
By Vicky Rahmic | Vicky Rahmic Weddings & Events — Perth, Western Australia
There are moments in your career that stop you completely. Not because of what happened, but because of how far you've come to get there.
As a Perth-based luxury wedding planner who has spent eight years building Vicky Rahmic Weddings & Events from the ground up in Western Australia, DWP Congress 2025 in Macao was one of those moments.

Eight Years in the Making
Eight years ago, I was a wedding planner in Perth dreaming of one day being in the same room as the planners, designers and creatives shaping the global luxury wedding industry. Names I studied. Work I admired from a distance. A world that felt both aspirational and a long way from Western Australia.
In April 2026, I sat in that room.
Not watching from the outside. Not observing from the back. Sitting alongside them talking, collaborating, learning, as one of a select group of wedding planners invited globally to attend DWP Congress at The Londoner Grand, Macao. One of only a handful of Australian wedding planners in the room.
Eight years ago I only dreamed of this. I want you to know what it felt like to actually be there and what it means for every couple I work with from here.

What DWP Congress Is
DWP — Destination Wedding Planners Congress is the most prestigious gathering in the global luxury wedding and events industry. Each year, an exclusive, invitation-only group of the world's leading planners, designers, photographers, venues and creative directors come together for an immersive congress of education, collaboration and connection.
For a Perth wedding planner to receive an invitation is rare. For context, Australian representation at this level of the global wedding industry is exceptionally limited which makes the connections and knowledge brought back to Western Australia genuinely unique.
Macao 2025 was held at The Londoner Grand a setting that established the tone for everything that followed.
The Speakers Who Changed How I See My Work
The speaker lineup was a masterclass in what the luxury wedding industry looks like at its absolute highest level, the kind of education unavailable anywhere else on earth, and now directly informing every wedding and event I design in Perth and across Australia.
Preston Bailey — whose floral and event design work has graced the world's most prestigious celebrations spoke with the creative authority that only comes from decades at the very top. Being in the same room, understanding his process, hearing how he thinks about atmosphere and design it recalibrates everything.
Kevin Lee of Luxury Events by Kevin Lee brought a perspective on ultra-luxury client experience and large-scale production that was both inspiring and grounding. The standard he operates at is extraordinary and the generosity with which he shared his knowledge was something I won't forget.
Anne Jang — whose editorial precision and AI design sensibility I have long admired spoke with a clarity that deepened my own commitment to intentionality in everything we create.
Alongside them, an extraordinary global roster including Stan Pure, Lelian Chew, Larry Walsh, Ali Bakhtiar, Joseph Radhik, Nicole Please, Tamarind Global Weddings and many others each bringing a different perspective, a different corner of the world, a different way of seeing what a truly exceptional wedding or event can be.
What struck me most wasn't just the calibre of the content. It was the openness the willingness to share, to connect, to lift each other. This was not a room of competition. It was a room of collaboration. And that changed something in me permanently.

The Connections That Are Already Changing What We Offer
Some of what happened at DWP Congress lives in the conversations over dinner, between sessions, at the gala ball, in the corridors of The Londoner Grand.
Conversations with planners, hoteliers and creative directors from Thailand, Barcelona, Paris, Singapore and Hong Kong. Deep discussions about how the world's leading venues approach ultra-luxury experiences. The discovery that the pursuit of excellence we practice in Perth is not just competitive at a global level it belongs there.
For Perth and Australian couples, this matters directly. The collaborations and venue partnerships now in motion mean access to a global network of creative talent, international venues and destination wedding possibilities that simply weren't available through a Western Australia-based planner before. Connections are still unfolding and I'm genuinely excited about what they will unlock for our clients.
If you're considering a destination wedding whether in Europe, Asia, or anywhere in between the conversations started in Macao are already opening doors.
What I'm Bringing Back to Perth and Australian Couples
I came home from Macao unable to design the way I did before. That's not a criticism of where I was. It's the highest compliment I can pay to what four days at DWP Congress delivered.
My creative vision has been recalibrated. The conversations I had, the work I witnessed, the standard I was surrounded by it has permanently raised the bar for what I bring to every Perth wedding, every Australian event, every destination celebration.
After eight years of building one of Western Australia's most recognised luxury wedding planning studios, attending DWP Congress felt like confirmation. Confirmation that the intentional, design-led, experience-first approach we bring to every client here in Perth belongs on the world stage.
And now, officially, it is.
